Anthropic Narrows Gap with OpenAI in US Enterprise AI Market
Anthropic, an AI company specializing in large language models and AI services, has made notable strides in the US corporate market by accelerating its growth and significantly reducing its market share gap with OpenAI.
According to data from fintech firm Ramp, by March 2026, nearly one-third of US companies were using Anthropic’s AI tools in a paid capacity. This adoption rate reflects a strong upward trend for Anthropic’s presence in the enterprise AI sector.
In contrast, OpenAI’s share of the US business AI market remained steady at approximately 35 percent during the same period. While OpenAI experienced an early surge in demand following the launch of ChatGPT, its growth rate has moderated, allowing Anthropic to close the distance.
Shifts in Enterprise AI Adoption in the US
The competition between Anthropic and OpenAI in delivering AI solutions to US businesses is becoming increasingly intense. Although OpenAI currently holds a leading position, Anthropic’s rapid adoption signals a changing dynamic in the market.
Ramp’s data highlights that a growing number of enterprises are integrating Anthropic’s offerings into their operations, implying confidence in the company’s technology and services.
This shift may reflect broader trends in enterprise AI, where companies seek diversified AI capabilities and service providers capable of meeting complex business needs. As AI adoption matures, vendors beyond OpenAI are gaining traction in corporate environments.
While detailed comparisons of product features or performance were not disclosed, the figures underscore the evolving competitive landscape in AI service provision among US businesses.
As both Anthropic and OpenAI continue to expand their enterprise footprints, US companies are expected to benefit from an increasingly competitive market, potentially driving further innovation and expanded AI integration across industries.
Anthropic has significantly accelerated its growth in the US enterprise AI market, closing in on OpenAI’s market share among business users.
