Domestic Smart TV Brands Gain Ground in Russia Amid Continued Chinese Dominance
The market for smart televisions in Russia has experienced notable changes over the past two years, with Russian and Belarusian brands significantly expanding their presence. According to data from J’son and Partners Consulting, the combined market share of domestic and Belarusian smart TV manufacturers rose from 10.8% to 17.4% during this period.
Rise in Domestic Smart TV Sales Amid Overall Market Growth
The first quarter of 2026 saw a continuation of this growth trend. Sales of smart TVs in Russia increased by approximately 10%, translating to around 2 million more units sold compared to the same period in the previous year. This uptick in sales was reported by major Russian electronics retailers including M.Video, Citilink, and Wildberries, who have all confirmed the upward trajectory.
Despite the gains made by Russian and Belarusian brands, Chinese companies continue to dominate the Russian smart TV market. The data underscores that while there is growing appeal for domestically produced smart TVs, Chinese manufacturers maintain the leading position in terms of market share and consumer preference.
The shift in market dynamics is indicative of a broader trend toward diversification within the smart TV sector in Russia. It suggests increasing consumer interest in native brands alongside the more established international options. However, detailed information regarding specific model performances, pricing strategies, or technological innovations driving this change has not been publicly disclosed.
Retailers monitoring sales patterns emphasize that smart TVs remain a key segment within consumer electronics, buoyed by continuous demand for connected home entertainment solutions. The increase in sales volume during the recent quarter reflects ongoing market vitality despite global economic uncertainties affecting many technology sectors.
As the smart TV market evolves, the expansion of Russian and Belarusian manufacturers will likely continue to influence competitive dynamics. While Chinese brands hold a majority share, the rising domestic involvement could spur further product development and potentially reshape consumer choices in Russia’s smart TV landscape over the coming years.
Russian and Belarusian smart TV brands increased their market share to 17.4% as overall smart TV sales in Russia rise, though Chinese brands remain dominant.
