Google Collaborates with Samsung on Next-Gen AI Chip Component Manufacturing
Google is advancing its efforts in developing next-generation artificial intelligence hardware through strategic manufacturing partnerships. The company has entered discussions with Samsung Electronics regarding the production of a critical component for its upcoming AI processor.
Split Manufacturing Strategy for New AI Chip
According to reports, Google intends to assign the fabrication of the core computational section of its next-generation tensor processing unit (TPU), codenamed Icefish, to Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC). This segment is fundamental to executing AI workloads efficiently.
Meanwhile, Samsung is expected to take on the production of another important element—a component responsible for connecting the chip to its memory modules. This part will be manufactured utilizing Samsung’s advanced 2-nanometer process technology, highlighting the company’s leading-edge capabilities in semiconductor fabrication.
