Russia Considers Granting 5G Spectrum Without Auction to Address Cost Barriers
The Russian Ministry of Digital Development is reportedly evaluating a new approach to 5G spectrum allocation in collaboration with domestic mobile operators. Industry sources have indicated that the high costs related to acquiring 5G frequencies could render the technology financially unfeasible for many operators within a decade.
Currently, spectrum licenses are typically obtained through auctions, a process that has raised concerns due to the substantial financial burden it imposes on telecom providers.
