AMD Unveils Ryzen AI 400 Series CPUs Featuring Zen 5, RDNA 3.5 Graphics, and Advanced AI Capabilities
At Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2026, AMD revealed a new generation of desktop processors under its Ryzen AI 400 and Ryzen AI Pro 400 lines. These processors mark a significant step forward for AMD’s desktop platform based on the AM5 socket, integrating advanced artificial intelligence processing alongside traditional computing and graphics capabilities.
Enhanced Processing and AI Integration
The Ryzen AI 400 series combines up to eight cores based on AMD’s latest Zen 5 architecture, delivering improved performance and efficiency over previous generations. AMD has also incorporated RDNA 3.5 graphics technology into these processors, enhancing their graphical output and supporting demanding visual workloads.
A defining feature of this lineup is the inclusion of a dedicated neural processing unit (NPU) capable of performing AI calculations at up to 50 trillion operations per second (TOPS). This hardware is designed to accelerate AI tasks across a range of applications, enabling faster inference and potentially more sophisticated machine learning workloads to run directly on the desktop.
By integrating CPU, GPU, and NPU components within a single chip, AMD aims to deliver a versatile solution tailored to the growing demands of artificial intelligence and high-performance computing on consumer desktops and workstations.
OEM partners such as HP and Lenovo are preparing to launch desktop systems featuring the Ryzen AI 400 processors in the second quarter of 2026. These debut products are expected to bring AI-accelerated computing to a broader market, facilitating new levels of productivity and innovation for users across various professional and creative fields.
Details regarding pricing and specific product configurations were not announced during the event. However, the introduction of the Ryzen AI 400 series underscores AMD’s commitment to embedding advanced AI capabilities into mainstream desktop computing platforms as AI technologies continue to gain prominence.
AMD introduces Ryzen AI 400 desktop processors with Zen 5 cores, RDNA 3.5 graphics, and a powerful AI NPU, expected in Q2 2026.
