EXEED Unveils Rhino Solid-State Batteries Promising 500 Miles Range with 8-Minute Charging
Chinese automaker EXEED, a luxury brand under the Chery group, has revealed its latest advancement in electric vehicle (EV) battery technology with the introduction of the Rhino solid-state battery family. These new batteries employ solid-state electrolytes, representing a significant leap forward in EV energy storage and charging speed.
Breakthroughs in Range and Charging Speed
The Rhino battery line offers a remarkable charging capability that can replenish enough energy to extend an electric vehicle’s range by approximately 500 kilometers (around 310 miles) in just eight minutes of charging. This rapid recharge rate stands to address one of the major challenges faced by electric vehicle owners: minimizing downtime during longer journeys.
Solid-state batteries are widely regarded as the next generation of EV power sources due to their potential for higher energy densities, improved safety profiles, and faster charging compared to conventional lithium-ion batteries. EXEED’s development in this area aligns with a broader industry trend in China, where manufacturers seek to gain an edge by advancing battery technology beyond current standards.
The debut application of the Rhino battery technology is planned for the EXEED ES8 model, a premium electric SUV that is expected to showcase the enhanced performance and efficiency offered by the solid-state cells. While specific performance figures for the ES8 equipped with Rhino batteries have not been fully disclosed, the ability to recharge a substantial driving range in such a short time could significantly improve the convenience and practicality of owning an electric vehicle.
China’s EV sector has been heavily investing in battery innovation, aiming to reduce reliance on existing battery chemistries and to improve vehicle range, charging infrastructure compatibility, and overall cost-effectiveness. EXEED’s Rhino batteries contribute to this landscape by promising a solution that combines long-range capability with ultra-fast recharge times.
Details regarding the commercial availability, production scale, and pricing of vehicles equipped with Rhino batteries remain limited. However, the announcement indicates EXEED’s commitment to pushing the boundaries of EV technology in the luxury segment and signals ongoing competition among Chinese manufacturers to offer cutting-edge energy solutions.
As the electric vehicle market continues to expand rapidly, advancements like EXEED’s solid-state batteries will play a crucial role in alleviating consumer concerns about range anxiety and charging convenience, potentially accelerating the broader adoption of EVs.
EXEED introduces Rhino solid-state batteries capable of adding 500 miles of range in just 8 minutes, debuting in the upcoming EXEED ES8 model.
