Chinese Cargo Drones Deliver Fresh Spring Tea from Mountain Plantations to Shanghai
In a pioneering logistics development, Chinese company AutoFlight has completed its first successful trial of delivering freshly harvested spring tea using a heavy cargo drone. The unmanned aerial vehicle, with a takeoff weight of two tons, transported the premium tea from remote mountain plantations directly to urban centers, significantly streamlining the journey.
Advancing Logistics with Autonomous Air Freight
The drone delivery operation originated at a designated site near the high-altitude tea-growing regions and concluded in Shanghai, over 2,000 kilometers away. By leveraging autonomous flight capabilities, the drone was able to traverse challenging mountainous terrain, bypassing the time-consuming and less efficient overland routes typically used for such deliveries.
This aerial leg of the journey substantially reduced transit times that conventional road freight would require, saving several hours in critical segments of the trip.
