AMD May Launch Six-Core Ryzen 5 9600X3D Processor This Year
AMD is reportedly considering the release of a new six-core processor that could expand its Ryzen 5 lineup. The company has not ruled out launching a Ryzen 5 9600X3D model utilizing the latest Zen 5 architecture within this year.
Possible Introduction of Ryzen 5 9600X3D in 2026
This information emerged during Computex 2026, where AMD’s general manager overseeing Radeon and Ryzen products, David McAfee, mentioned the prospect of such a CPU entering the market. McAfee highlighted that a six-core Ryzen 5 9600X3D could be added to AMD’s portfolio later this year, although specifics on timing, pricing, or performance characteristics remain undisclosed.
The Ryzen 5 9600X3D would presumably be built on AMD’s Zen 5 microarchitecture, which hints at advanced efficiencies and possibly improved performance over previous generations. However, AMD’s remarks suggest the company is still evaluating the product’s fit within its broader lineup and market strategy.
If released, the Ryzen 5 9600X3D could cater to segments seeking a balanced combination of multi-core capabilities with enhancements typically offered by 3D V-Cache technology, although AMD has not explicitly confirmed the technical details or feature set of this potential processor.
The launch of such a processor would complement AMD’s existing Ryzen offerings and could strengthen its competitiveness amid growing demand for high-performance CPUs in gaming, content creation, and general computing.
Updates on the Ryzen 5 9600X3D are expected to be shared closer to the end of the year, depending on AMD’s product timeline and market conditions.
AMD hints at a potential six-core Ryzen 5 9600X3D based on Zen 5 architecture possibly arriving later this year.
