Apple Expected to Sell 5 Million MacBook Neo Units in 2026, Neo 2 to Feature Touchscreen
Apple has reportedly initiated shipments of its MacBook Neo lineup this week, marking the introduction of a more affordable laptop model within its portable computer range. The MacBook Neo is expected to be priced around $599, making it Apple’s first entry-level option in the MacBook series.
Projected Sales and Future Models
According to renowned industry analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, Apple anticipates selling approximately 5 million MacBook Neo units by the end of 2026. This forecast underscores Apple’s strategic push to capture a broader market segment with a more budget-friendly MacBook offering.
Looking ahead, Kuo also shared insights regarding the next iteration, the MacBook Neo 2. A key anticipated enhancement for this forthcoming model is the incorporation of a touchscreen display, which would represent a new design direction for the Neo series. This feature could provide users with greater interaction capabilities, aligning with trends in laptop innovation.
In addition to the Neo series developments, Kuo provided updated expectations on the rollout timeline for MacBook Pro and MacBook Air models equipped with OLED displays. While specific dates remain unconfirmed, the adoption of OLED technology in Apple’s higher-end laptops suggests a continued emphasis on display quality improvements, including richer colors and better contrast ratios.
These developments reflect Apple’s ongoing efforts to diversify its laptop offerings while integrating advanced display technologies across multiple product tiers. The introduction of a touchscreen on the MacBook Neo 2, along with OLED screens on premium models, indicates a trajectory toward more versatile and visually enhanced devices in the coming years.
Details regarding availability, pricing, and additional specifications for the MacBook Neo 2 and OLED-equipped MacBook Pro and MacBook Air remain pending official announcements from Apple.
Apple aims to sell around 5 million MacBook Neo laptops by the end of 2026, with the upcoming Neo 2 model rumored to include a touchscreen.
