Russian Chipmaker Mikron Begins Offering Semiconductor Wafers and Cleanroom Air as Souvenirs
Russian semiconductor company Mikron has introduced a new line of collectible items derived from its manufacturing operations. The company recently began offering 200-millimeter silicon wafers containing thousands of semiconductor chips alongside vials filled with air sourced directly from its cleanroom environment.
Unique Souvenirs from Chip Production
Mikron’s souvenir wafers feature between 30,000 and 120,000 individual chips fabricated on a single 200-mm silicon substrate. These wafers—typically used in the semiconductor industry to produce integrated circuits—are now available for purchase as memorabilia, providing technology enthusiasts and collectors with a tangible piece of chip production history.
Along with the silicon wafers, Mikron is selling test tubes containing air samples from their pristine cleanroom, the controlled environment essential for semiconductor manufacturing. The cleanroom air is maintained with rigorous standards to prevent contamination, underscoring the precision required in chip fabrication processes.
This initiative by Mikron represents an unusual way of bridging high-tech manufacturing with consumer engagement by offering tangible artifacts from the production line. While pricing and distribution details have not been disclosed, the offering highlights growing interest in semiconductor technology beyond traditional industry circles.
By making these items accessible, Mikron connects the public to the complex and often opaque world of semiconductor device production, an industry critical to modern electronics. Such souvenirs may appeal to engineers, collectors, and tech aficionados fascinated by the inner workings of chips that power everyday devices.
Mikron, a Russian semiconductor producer, now sells 200-mm chip wafers and test tubes with air from its cleanroom as collectible items.
