Two Air Leaks Detected in Russian Module of the ISS, One Successfully Sealed
During a routine inspection in the Russian segment of the International Space Station (ISS), astronauts identified two air leak sources in the Zvezda service module. The discovery was reported by the Russian space agency Roscosmos and highlighted concerns regarding the station’s internal atmosphere integrity.
Leak Detection and Immediate Response
Upon identifying the air leaks within the transition chamber of the Zvezda module, the onboard crew quickly undertook measures to address the problem. One of the leaks was sealed using a two-component sealing compound known as Germetall-1.
