US Largest Offshore Wind Farm Begins Delivering Power with Initial Turbine Online

The Coastal Virginia Offshore Wind (CVOW) project, developed by Dominion Energy, has begun delivering electricity to the power grid in Virginia. This milestone marks the first instance of the United States’ largest offshore wind farm generating and supplying energy.

Initial Operations Initiated with One Turbine

Though the full wind farm is planned to achieve a total capacity of 2.6 gigawatts, at present only a single offshore wind turbine with an output of 14 megawatts is connected and operational within the federal waters off Virginia’s coast. This initial step represents approximately 0.5% of the project’s ultimate production capability.
