Micron Unveils 3GB GDDR7 Memory Chips with Data Speeds Up to 36 Gbps
Micron has revealed new 3GB GDDR7 memory chips designed for high-performance graphics applications. These latest chips feature a density of 24 gigabits, translating to 3 gigabytes per chip, and achieve data transfer speeds of up to 36 gigabits per second per pin.
GDDR (Graphics Double Data Rate) memory is a specialized type of synchronous dynamic random-access memory (SDRAM) specifically tailored for graphics processing units (GPUs). The transition to GDDR7 represents the next stage of performance improvements, aiming to support increasingly demanding workloads in gaming, professional visualization, and artificial intelligence.
Advancements in GDDR7 Memory Technology
