AST SpaceMobile Schedules Launch of Three BlueBird Broadband Satellites on SpaceX Falcon 9
AST SpaceMobile has announced plans to launch three new satellites, designated BlueBird 8, 9, and 10, aboard a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket. The launch is scheduled to take place on June 17, 2026, from Cape Canaveral.
Expanding Global Mobile Broadband Access
These upcoming BlueBird satellites are part of AST SpaceMobile’s ongoing mission to provide wideband cellular connectivity from orbit. The constellation is designed to deliver voice, video, and data services directly to standard, unmodified smartphones on the ground, potentially eliminating the need for users to rely on ground-based cellular infrastructure.
The deployment of BlueBird 8, 9, and 10 will mark another milestone for the company as it continues to develop its vast space-based broadband network aimed at expanding mobile coverage globally, including in underserved and remote regions. By leveraging large satellites equipped with advanced communication technologies, AST SpaceMobile intends to support real-time, high-speed internet access for consumers and enterprises worldwide.
SpaceX’s Falcon 9 rocket has been selected for this mission due to its proven reliability and payload capacity, providing a suitable platform for AST SpaceMobile’s growing satellite constellation. The three BlueBird spacecraft will be launched together and deployed into orbit during this mission, enhancing the company’s network capabilities and service reach.
While detailed technical specifications and service offerings related to these satellites have not been disclosed, the initiative aligns with trends in the satellite internet industry toward integrating cellular connectivity directly from space. This approach promises to bridge coverage gaps and improve the accessibility of broadband communications.
The launch schedule announced by AST SpaceMobile sets the stage for continued advancements in satellite-based mobile communications, with the potential to reshape how users connect to voice and data services worldwide.
