The company revealed that it has successfully extracted breathable oxygen from a simulant of lunar soil, a development that could prove critical for long-term lunar missions and extraterrestrial habitation.
Innovative Reactor for Lunar Oxygen Production
This achievement was made possible through Blue Origin’s Air Pioneer reactor, a technology under development for several years. The reactor is designed to process lunar regolith, commonly known as lunar soil, to produce oxygen that meets the standards for human respiration.
