China Deploys World’s Largest Floating Offshore Wind Turbine Near Guangdong Coast
China has reached a significant milestone in renewable energy by completing the installation of the world’s largest floating offshore wind turbine. This landmark project, known as the Three Gorges Pilot, is situated approximately 70 kilometers off the coast of Yangjiang city in Guangdong province.
Advancing Deep-Water Wind Power Technology
The wind turbine boasts an impressive rotor swept area equivalent to the size of seven football fields, highlighting its vast scale. With a generation capacity of 16 megawatts, the turbine represents a notable step forward in harnessing the strong and consistent wind resources available in deep-water marine environments.
