Finnish Kempower Demonstrates 1.2 MW Megawatt Charging System in Sweden’s Cold Weather
In a significant demonstration of electric vehicle charging technology, Finnish company Kempower recently showcased its 1.2 megawatt (MW) Megawatt Charging System (MCS) for heavy electric trucks during a winter event in Norrköping, Sweden. The event, known as MCS Live Winter Days, highlighted how high-power EV charging infrastructure performs in cold weather conditions.
Proving High-Power Charging Can Withstand Winter Weather
As the adoption of electric trucks grows, concerns remain about how subzero temperatures could affect their charging capabilities and operational efficiency, particularly in colder climates such as Scandinavia. Low temperatures have often been viewed as a barrier to widespread electric heavy vehicle use, causing hesitation among freight operators about feasibility in winter months.
