SpaceX Sets New Half-Year Record Launching Nearly 1,600 Starlink Satellites
SpaceX has continued to accelerate its Starlink satellite deployment, achieving a new milestone by launching 1,589 satellites within the first six months of 2026. This outpaces the record set in the corresponding period of 2025, when the company had launched 1,489 Starlink satellites.
As of mid-2026, SpaceX’s rapid deployment marks a significant step forward toward expanding its global broadband network in low Earth orbit (LEO). The 2025 launches culminated in a total of 3,180 satellites for the entire year, demonstrating consistent growth in the Starlink constellation.
Falcon 9 Reusability Continues to Drive Launch Cadence
The company’s ability to frequently reuse Falcon 9 rocket stages remains central to maintaining such a high launch rate. SpaceX successfully flew one Falcon 9 first stage for the 36th time, underscoring its commitment to rocket reusability as a key component in reducing launch costs and increasing the cadence of satellite deployments.
This increasing number of Starlink satellites each year allows SpaceX to outpace competitors and develop a constellation that will eventually dwarf other networks. Current figures indicate that the annual number of satellites launched by SpaceX far exceeds the expected size of other LEO broadband constellations, including those planned by Amazon’s Project Kuiper.
SpaceX’s aggressive deployment strategy highlights its ambition to extend internet connectivity across underserved and remote regions worldwide, leveraging the growing number of satellites in orbit to improve network coverage and capacity.
In the first half of 2026, SpaceX deployed 1,589 Starlink satellites, surpassing its previous record from 2025.
