Xiaomi Raises Annual Smartphone Sales Forecast Amid Expected Memory Chip Price Stabilization
In the face of supply chain challenges earlier this year, Xiaomi has adjusted its sales outlook for 2026, projecting stronger smartphone shipments by the end of the year. The company’s revised forecast comes as expectations mount for a steadier market environment, particularly in terms of memory chip availability and pricing.
Memory Chip Market Stabilization Expected to Benefit Sales
The global smartphone industry has been grappling with a shortage of memory chips, which significantly increased component costs and compelled manufacturers to raise device prices. This dynamic directly impacted sales volumes in recent months, including at Xiaomi, where first-quarter shipments fell noticeably compared to the previous year.
Specifically, Xiaomi shipped 33.8 million smartphones in the first quarter of 2026, representing a decline of 19.2 percent from the same period in 2025. The drop primarily reflects the constrained supply and escalated costs of critical components, which in turn affected consumer demand and pricing strategies across the market.
Nevertheless, Xiaomi is optimistic about a turnaround. The company anticipates that improvements in the memory chip supply chain will lead to more stable prices, alleviating pressure on smartphone production costs. With these favorable conditions expected to materialize, Xiaomi has increased its annual shipment forecast from the initially projected 90 million units to 110 million units for 2026.
This upward revision suggests confidence in resetting momentum in smartphone sales as supply-side issues begin to ease. Industry observers note that a more balanced chip market could help manufacturers like Xiaomi compete more effectively on pricing, potentially enticing consumers back into the market after a period of elevated prices and reduced offerings.
While Xiaomi’s shipment figures reflect broader challenges facing the smartphone sector, the company’s proactive forecast adjustment underscores a belief in partial recovery driven by supply chain improvements. Market watchers will be monitoring forthcoming quarterly results to assess whether these optimistic projections align with actual market performance through the remainder of the year.
Xiaomi increased its 2026 smartphone sales forecast, anticipating improved market conditions as memory chip prices stabilize.
