YouTuber Builds Massive 15-Fan Noctua ‘Superdome’ to Slash PC Temperatures by 20°C
A technology enthusiast and YouTube creator known for hardware experiments has engineered an innovative cooling solution for personal computers. Building upon a previous design featuring compact cooling fans, the creator developed an imposing ‘Superdome’ constructed from 15 full-sized 120-millimeter Noctua fans.
Scaling Up Cooling Power with the ‘Superdome’
The initial project involved a cluster of fifteen miniature 30-millimeter fans arranged into a single 120-millimeter unit aimed at boosting processor cooling efficiency. Following this, the creator expanded on the concept, designing a much larger assembly that acts as an entire side panel of the PC case.
This new cooling apparatus, dubbed the ‘Superdome,’ incorporates fifteen 120-millimeter Noctua fans positioned in a densely packed array. The system completely replaces the case’s side wall, effectively turning it into a powerful cooling surface. This approach maximizes airflow and significantly enhances heat dissipation from internal components.
According to the creator’s findings, integrating the Superdome into the PC setup resulted in a remarkable drop of approximately 20 degrees Celsius in system temperatures, underscoring the effectiveness of this large-scale ventilator configuration for intensive cooling tasks.
The inventive cooling method demonstrates the potential benefits of rethinking traditional PC cooling designs, particularly with the modular replacement of case panels with active airflow components. The project illustrates how off-the-shelf fans can be combined into creative formations to improve thermal management.
